My Scope
Mother Gorilla is an innovative guerrilla projection mapping agency created to deliver high-impact, unmissable public marketing activations for PR firms and ambitious brands.
Brought on as Lead Designer via a client referral, the objective was to build a complete visual identity system and responsive website from scratch. The challenge was to create a brand that mirrored the disruptive, high energy nature of projection mapping, ensuring the identity was bold, high contrast, and instantly recognisable across both light and dark environments.

Strategy
We anchored the strategic direction on raw visual impact, positioning Mother Gorilla as a fearless, high octane partner for agencies seeking high visibility activations.
The core brief demanded a gorilla motif, but avoiding predictable stock graphics or generic corporate illustrations was essential. The narrative focused on optical distortion and light dispersion, drawing direct inspiration from how physical projection devices split and throw light across urban landscapes.
Design System
The brand system centers around an off-beat, prism-distorted gorilla mark constructed from an optical colour spectrum palette.
Designed to mimic light refracting through a lens, the illustration combines vibrant chromatic gradients with sharp geometric structure.
A critical technical constraint of the design rationale was dual environment versatility: the mark and primary pattern assets were engineered to hit with maximum visual contrast whether rendered against stark white digital backgrounds or deep black night activation environments.
